Your host Shane has built, designed & landscaped the entire property. With West Coast roots that date back to the mid 1800's he has tried to stay true to the natural beauty & sustainability of the area. 

 

The majority of the native timber has been sourced from a boutique sawmill in Little Wanganui, Karamea, where co-incidentally his Great Grandfather used to own the Hotel in the mid to late 1800's.

This property has been in the family since 1978, a sentimental purchase that remained vacant beside the fabulous Okarito wetlands until 2006 when Shane began to handcraft it into the beautiful property it is today.
